* Chatham to Showcase Local Agriculture: (Map)
The Chatham Agricultural Partnership (CAP), in cooperation with a number of farms in Chatham, is hosting an Open Farm Day on Saturday, September 12, 2009.  The purpose is to give visitors a look at the many types of farming that take place in Chatham, and to allow them to see the operations at some of the towns most beautiful and busy farms.  The tour will include sheep, dairy, beef, produce, equine and alpaca farms.  Several of the farms will have their product for sale.  All of the farms will be open from 11 till 4:00, and the event is free to the public. Farms include Kinderhook, Staron’s Farm, Ooms Farm, Spruce Ride Farm, Little Brook Farm,  Old Chatham Sheepherding Company, and Equine Advocates Safe Home Equine Rescue and Sanctuary.   A driving and bike route map of the participating farms is available on the CAP website, www.ChathamKeepFarming.org, and in village stores.  Contact:  Jeff Lick 518-794-6294 or jeff@spruceridgefarm.com.
Later that evening, join the Columbia Land Conservancy for a night of fun and dancing with the Mountain Laurel Band.  Light refreshments and food will be provided.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
